The Imaginary Library
The Biblioteca Braidense and the Livia and Virgilio Montani Association give life to the Biblioteca Fantastica project which is now in its third edition.
The program includes both educational visits in order to increase knowledge of the library and the antique book, as well as a workshop activity organized by the Association itself.
This activity saw the schools take part in training workshops on moveable letterpress printing thanks to the collaboration of Rodolfo Campi, active since 1898 and one of the only typographers that still prints with lead characters today. The participation of Rodolfo Campi allowed the students to directly view the work of the typographer, and the tools used such as the proofing press.
The event includes a wide choice of expressive and technical languages: from drawing to collage of papers and fabrics, to engravings and printing with intaglio printing. The third edition is a tribute to Gianni Rodari: 100 artist’s books for 100 years of Gianni Rodari, a tribute of artists, children and young people to the author on the occasion of the centenary of his birth.
